Create a new knitted blanket reinterpreting the tradition of the blanket

Things I can do well:

My look starts from an idea of knitted patterns through a stitching. RIGHT AND WRONG SIDES in the warp/weft and in the mix of colours: experiment and interpret blankets and cushions to be coordinated. Once upon a time and still today, there was one of the various objects of the ‘slow living’: the blanket, as a relaxing support to modernity. Dynamic and impressive objects, in an idea of renewal. It’s useful to surround yourself with aesthetically pleasing objects! The emotional and sensory effect can be recognized even in a blanket: relax and if you can, share it.

Pros and cons of a knitted blanket

Cons:

the characteristic linked to the open armor (construction of the mesh) and therefore elastic, makes it sensitive to use (rubbing and washing) developing what is commonly identified with the word ‘peeling’ = pellet on the surface (especially in carded wool). The other problem, which is then relative, is the classic ‘tight thread’. Careful and specific washing, does not spoil the product, in doubt there is dry cleaning.

Pros:

The ability to choose the type of yarn in the various proposals: composition and thickness, combined and patterned, has a natural elasticity. Versatile in coloring, using yarns such as cashmere, silk, super-geelong, baby alpaca… the result is exceptional!

Following the various phases of design starting from the yarn, is a stimulating work, dictated by experience and passion. The research and the study of the ‘testing of stains’ in the various points worked, the how they react to washing, the drops, the yield, the due changes and improvements. From the small sample to the counts (by the technician) interpreting the right ‘tension’ to be increased or let go, considering the importance of the management of electronic machines capable of making tarpaulins (which come down from the machine) that only at the end, after other expert hands (even hand finishes) and treatment in washing, you will understand if it will be OK!
