After a few short but intense trips over the course of a year, I have chosen to collect some testimonies of cities visited: collages in the different seasons

Summer solstice Iceland

A ride through the immense natural spaces in the company of the strong wind. I felt a bit like a Frozen princess, full of energy among the spectacular glaciers… super! And then the midnight sun, the light that confuses and leaves no room for darkness…

NY in a hot summer

Here is New York: I found it as if suspended, in a relatively static atmosphere (post-Covid?) Thanks to the heat and its intense light as I wandered around and browsed, without finding anything that really struck me and made me feel and see the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn ‘special,’ with points of interest. It remains a city to be considered at intervals of time (perhaps for specific research or for work) and also for its negative sides (evident poverty, waste in plain sight and the unbearable and powerful ‘air conditioning’). It is very expensive!

Since it is always a metropolis in ferment and transformation, I was able to see the ‘architectural-urban additions’ made:

The ‘Summit One Vanderbilt‘ new Skyscraper with glass and mirrors to admire the wide panoramic view of the city, on the 92nd floor.

Overview at sunset outside + inside with play of lights in reflective colors on spheres
I visited some exhibitions, such as the pleasant “Color Factory” dedicated to color-themed representations, some shops and …
a Japanese Kinokuniya bookshop, ‘unique’: the world of stationery is unsurpassed!
The ‘Little Island‘, a small park suspended on a set of structures like large goblets immersed in the Hudson River (west of Manhattan) and
the ‘High Line‘ a linear park (km 2.3 on the western side of the Chelsea district) built on a section of disused elevated railway, a serpentine between the buildings,
an ‘urban nature’ among expressions of a scenographic architecture of skyscrapers. The almost classic postcard photo of the Brooklyn Bridge
Even the squirrel can’t stand the heat…

I tried to photograph only what inspired me and now I want to share. In both cases they are cities that have aroused a fluctuating interest in me, through long walks, browsing and capturing different atmospheres, ways of living and habits. The favorable link of the climate for both places was evident:

Valencia

Moments of light in Calatrava’s work
Trees in the park…
Details of Valencian Art Nouveau

Athens

Life is lived outside the home in an intense way, in company and sharing food at any time…

Amphitheater, detail at sunset, small church incorporated in a hotel
From the Acropolis to scattered ancient remains…
Details of: Brettos Bar, flower from the balcony, watchful cats in the Acropolis park

Lisbon

…at every meeting, new discoveries!

Travel notes…
Between interiors and exteriors, with some leaks and ‘patches’
Protagonist: the tile!
…and a toast, with a fresh-warm greeting!
