Artistic skills with paper: common realities, different times of 2 artists. On the sides, the “flowered jellyfish” paper flowers are a creation by Germana Rapone, in the center an ancient illustration by Mary Delany (late 1700s)

I am Germana, the soul of the Yomè artistic creations brand, I give voice to your soul. I do this by creating unique paper flowers, which accompany your special moments, giving you the pleasure of sustainability, respecting nature and creativity. I create flowers for your Brand Image, for an event in your life… in a nutshell, I create paper experiences, an extension of your Soul, to give voice to your uniqueness.

Your new adventure

After spending more than 25 years as an Art Director Home consultant in the family business, in recent years, after closing the business by choice, I have dedicated myself to a dream locked in a drawer. Be an artisan or an artist if you prefer. I specialized in paper flowers.

The motivation for approaching this “world” with the interest and determination of creating a particular reality

The biggest motivation was that experimentation, then the unnatural pain that a mother can feel in life transformed the word “experience” into “living”. So I can tell you that making paper flowers is for me to keep living. My paper flowers are created from cardboard sheets of various weights, each time it is a challenge that most of the time I win, each time it is emotion to see a flower come to life in my hands and happiness in knowing that you can have a flower or composition at home or for an event, without harming nature.

Taste and style as important essential elements

Images, I feed on images and my creativity is inspired by them, it can be a style, but also a design object, a famous painting, a colour, nature. Everything that surrounds me is an essential element for me to create and overcome my limits, always, every time.

Poetry of small precious objects to be seen and…

The walls of a professional’s studio are an art gallery, it is his passion and every time I admire his paintings, the ones that I have always been looking at for years, are two small lithographs by Botero and Antonio Bueno. It is exciting every time. Joy for the heart.

At the beginning of this adventure, what were you inspired by?

I have a great friend who is an artist of porcelain paste flowers, the method with which she makes flowers has always fascinated me and I took inspiration from it to make them with paper … After several years of failures I succeeded, with a paper that I never had used.

Reflections on which materials and colours, what do you like?

I love the paper! Feeling its thickness, its tearing, its coloring yield and the ‘mistreatment’ to which I submit it to understand its qualities is pure joy. Colours are essential you cannot live without colours.

You are fan of…

SWAROVSKI in any form, both collectible and home decor.

Which artist, historical period, style, writer, book… of reference?

The period certainly between the mid-19th century and the end of the 20th century and everything included in that period. The book is a legacy of my daughter. The author is casual, Vanessa Diffenbaugh in “The secret language of flowers” is one of the books that my daughter bequeathed me and that encouraged me to read.

Your ideal customer…

My ideal client is a person who loves beautiful things, she is the entrepreneur who wants the identification of her brand in visual art, she is a bride, she is a person who loves the uniqueness of a handmade as an object of value, respectful and lover of nature, sustainability, with taste, elegance, creativity, an empathetic person. People who want to remember their happy moments with a gift. A paper flower, in a bouquet or composition or single flower as an extension of one’s soul.

Your real customer…

At this moment it is the entrepreneur who wants the identification of her brand identity, the bride, the happy event of a family. The characteristics are like those of the ideal customer.

Projects in the next future…

I have already planned several events to carry out and the creation of all the materials for the opening of my web-site.

My dream is…

I would say that more than a dream today it has also become a mission: I want to help people, mainly women, to overcome the pain of a lack or discomfort with creativity. Make them understand that overcoming your limits even if you are not creative: you can! We all have a creative source within us that must be nourished when life puts a strain on you… and then I have another one, always … to see one of my creations in an important home decor magazine, but this is just a dream, a beautiful dream…

Thanks to…

To you! You perfectly well know how incredulous I was at the invitation to your new blog.

You are a special person, I could not have had a better debut, a unique opportunity for me, being interviewed is an opportunity for me and my brand to support us together in this beautiful project of yours, in which I believe very much. Your idea of bringing the value of beauty or, as you say, done well, of arts and crafts of which we are often masters in the world, is an act of courage, determination and professionalism. I love your blankets! They express a sense of welcoming warmth, a particular taste and a desire to give a true meaning to design.

What would you throw away?

Falsehood, vulgarity, hypocrisy. I would throw away everything that makes a person feel diminished in their worth, exploitation and manipulation.

Believe in…

This is a good question! In my case it is difficult to believe in anything. There is a higher entity, here, I believe and I rely on the energy we are made of and to which we are all connected.

Wishing that…

Everyone can reach their dreams, that they go further and find the courage to open the drawer where they have stored them and believe in it until it becomes concrete, without fear of making mistakes but with the determination to always overcome their limits and try. Regret what you did not have the courage to do is not to live this life but to survive without being the architect of your own destiny, which is already written.

The words that inspire you…

Courage, determination, Life, value, freedom, creativity, vision, aesthetics, seriousness, achievement, independence, progress.

A smile to…

To life! To all. Smiling brings joy and enthusiasm, it is serenity for a better future. Smiling then is good for those who give it and those who receive it.

Thanks Germana for the interview and your beautiful paper flowers dedicated to me!
